Governors

As part of Steel City Schools Partnership, the Board of Trustees is legally accountable for the decisions made in all its academies. However, this does not mean the board is required to make them all itself; it can delegate decisions to the Local Governing Bodies (LGB).

The function of the Local Governing Body is to work closely with Leaders in the schools, to hold them to account for the school’s performance, oversee the use of resources to ensure value for money and engage with stakeholders. Local Governors challenge the school’s practices and outcomes to ensure they are performing to standard. Having link governors to key areas helps to ensure that all aspects of school performance are considered, reviewed, challenged and held to account.
