FS2 Sparrows
A warm welcome to all our children and families in the FS2 Reception classes in ‘big’ school.
Within our exciting and inspiring learning environment, both inside and outside, the children are nurtured and supported to develop a wide range of skills through a mixture of teacher led and child led learning. They will begin to read and write through the whole school phonics scheme ‘Read, Write Inc.’ and develop an understanding of number and shape through practical activities.
We are responsive to individual needs and plan opportunities to extend learning based on our observations and assessment of your children. Evidence of these activities is collected though photographs and written observations, which forms part of your child’s learning journey. You will be able to access your child’s profile and add observations from home via the reception email, teamreception@mansel.sheffield.sch.uk. We encourage you to do so as we are firm believers of working alongside parents to provide the best for your children. Keep up to date with what has been happening in the classroom via Twitter Learning @FSMansel. We would love for you to tweet us any learning at home or any achievements your child may be proud of.
We encourage parents to settle their child in promptly prior to the school bell. Children should be encouraged to put their belongings away and choose their lunch independently ready to start the school day.
Sometimes there will be morning tasks, parents are welcome to join in and support their child with these.
PE will be on Tuesday mornings, please ensure your child has their PE Kit in school and is labelled with their name on it.
Reading homework will be sent out every Friday. Please ask a member of staff if you don't receive this..
We have a caring and very experienced team of staff who will support your children to learn and help them on their way to becoming successful Mansel Learners. Team Reception includes Miss Parkin, and Miss Nicholson as well as teaching assistants Miss Barlow and Mrs Biggin.
